THE COUTURE PROCESS

From first conversation to final fold.

Each Cilwana piece begins as a conversation and unfolds through weeks of quiet, deliberate craft. This is couture as it was meant to be—unhurried, intimate, and made entirely for you.

CONSULTATION

Consultation

In the atelier, in Srinagar, or by arrangement

We begin with a conversation—about silhouette, occasion, fabric, and feeling. Whether you visit us in person or connect remotely, this is where your vision takes shape. We listen, sketch, and guide you through the possibilities of couture tailored to your form and story.

II
MEASUREMENTS & DRAPING

Measurements & Draping

The garment begins in proportion

Every body is unique. We take precise measurements and drape fabric directly on your form to understand how it moves, falls, and flatters. This step ensures that the final piece will feel as considered as it looks—tailored not to a size, but to you.

III
DESIGN & EMBROIDERY PLANNING

Design & Embroidery Planning

Sketch to needle

With your silhouette defined, we turn to ornamentation. Our artisans translate your aesthetic into embroidery motifs, selecting threads, beads, and techniques that honor Kashmiri tradition while reflecting your personal style. Each stitch is planned with intention.

IV
EMBROIDERY

Embroidery

Six to sixteen weeks

This is where time slows. Our master embroiderers work by hand, stitch by stitch, bringing the design to life. Depending on complexity, this stage can take weeks or months. We do not rush. The result is embroidery that carries the weight of heritage and the lightness of artistry.

V
CONSTRUCTION & FITTING

Construction & Fitting

Structure, movement, precision

Once embroidery is complete, the garment is constructed with the same care. We fit, adjust, and refine until every seam sits perfectly and every movement feels effortless. This is couture in its truest form—made to move with you, not against you.

VI
DELIVERY

Delivery

Wrapped, noted, remembered

Your piece arrives as it was made—with care. Wrapped in fine fabric, accompanied by notes on its creation and care, it is a garment meant to be treasured. This is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of yours with it.
